Démonstration en direct : drozBot, le robot portraitiste à la Foire du Valais

Au cœur de la recherche en intelligence artificielle se trouvent la curiosité et la créativité. drozBot, le robot portraitiste, l’illustre parfaitement. Développé par le Robot Learning & Interaction Group de l’Institut de Recherche Idiap, dirigé par le Dr. Sylvain Calinon, ainsi que par des ingénieurs R&D de l’institut, drozBot associe intelligence artificielle et robotique pour dessiner des portraits en temps réel.

À partir d’une simple photo, le robot analyse les traits du visage et les traduit en coups de pinceau fluides, imitant la main d’un artiste. Lors de cette démonstration en direct, les visiteurs pourront observer en temps réel la réalisation de leur portrait, puis le télécharger sur un site dédié. Ils pourront également échanger avec des membres de l’équipe R&D et collaborateurs de l’Idiap, qui fourniront des explications en français et en anglais.

Présentée par l’Institut de Recherche Idiap, actif dans la recherche en intelligence artificielle, la formation et le transfert de technologie depuis près de 35 ans, cette démonstration sera présentée à l’espace Innothèque de la Foire du Valais (Martigny), du 26 septembre au 5 octobre 2025. At the heart of AI research lies curiosity and creativity. drozBot, the robotic portrait artist, brings both to life. Developed by the Robot Learning & Interaction Group at the Idiap Research Institute, led by Dr. Sylvain Calinon and Idiap R&D engineers, drozBot combines artificial intelligence with robotics to draw human portraits in real time.

From a simple photo, the robot analyzes facial features and translates them into fluid brushstrokes, mimicking the hand of an artist. During this live demo, visitors will be able to watch their own portrait being drawn in real time, and then download it from a dedicated website. They will also have the opportunity to engage with Idiap R&D team members and collaborators, who will provide explanations in both French and English.

Presented by the Idiap Research Institute, active in AI research, education and technology transfer for nearly 35 years, this demonstration will be showcased at the Innothèque space of the Foire du Valais (Martigny), from 26 September to 5 October 2025. Entry requires a valid Foire du Valais ticket.
